From its humble origins, Lyceum has grown into a pillar of educational excellence, impacting countless lives along the way. This journey reflects the unwavering commitment of its founders and the entire school community to nurturing young minds and fostering academic success.
In commemoration of Founder’s Day, Lyceum Nugegoda organized the Annual Overnight Pirith Chanting Ceremony from the night of June 14th to the morning of June 15th. This event, supported by the multi-religious community, parents, staff, and school management, strengthens the bonds among these groups and provides a meaningful experience for our students. The serene atmosphere of the pirith chanting promotes mindfulness, tranquility, unity, and collaboration. This sacred tradition brings us closer together, encouraging us to reflect on our shared values of compassion, wisdom, and harmony. The ceremony concluded the following morning with Heel Daanaya.
While we highlight this significant Buddhist observance, it’s important to note that Lyceum Nugegoda also respects and celebrates the diverse religious practices within our school community. We observe and honor various religious traditions, fostering a spirit of inclusivity and mutual respect among students and staff.
Reflecting on these moments and milestones, we are reminded of the school’s humble beginnings and the dedication of its founders, Dr. Mohan Lal Grero and Dr. Mrs. Kumari Grero. Their vision and perseverance have transformed Lyceum into what it is today, an institution that continues to inspire and empower future generations.
Here’s to many more years of growth, achievement, and cherished traditions at Lyceum Nugegoda. Let’s celebrate this remarkable legacy together!
