Silver
The silver of the Lyceum flag is inspired by the brilliant silver-white reflected off of an iceberg in the sunlight. An Iceberg has considerable volume and depth, but only the tip of the iceberg can be seen above the surface of the water, whilst the rest remains submerged.
An iceberg is strong and stable and can withstand tremendous impacts caused by collisions with the environment or external objects. Even the “unsinkable” ship the Titanic could not resist its impact with an iceberg.
Blue
The blue of the flag represents the light blue heart of a flame, such as the bright blue centre of a Bunsen burner flame or an oxy-acetylene flame. The very high temperature of this blue flame cuts through the hardest steel and can also temper it to mould it into a better shape.
