Department: Academic Enrichment Centre (Special Education Needs Unit)
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and deliver individualized education plans (IEPs) based on each student’s needs and abilities.
- Provide one-on-one and small-group instruction tailored to various learning styles and challenges.
- Collaborate with mainstream teachers to integrate special needs students effectively into classroom settings where possible.
- Use adaptive teaching methods and assistive technology to support learning.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate regularly with parents and specialists.
- Promote self-confidence, independence, and emotional well-being among students.
- Participate in training sessions and staff meetings related to special education and school development.
Requirements:
- Diploma or Degree in Special Needs Education, Psychology, Education, or a related field.
- Prior experience in teaching or working with children with learning differences or developmental disorders.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to remain patient, empathetic, and positive in challenging situations.
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
Desirable Attributes:
- Knowledge of IEP development and implementation.
- Familiarity with sensory integration, behavioral therapy strategies, or other support tools.
- Willingness to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team including parents, therapists, and school counselors.
