Teacher – Academic Enrichment Centre (AEC)

Department: Academic Enrichment Centre (Special Education Needs Unit)

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and deliver individualized education plans (IEPs) based on each student’s needs and abilities.
• Provide one-on-one and small-group instruction tailored to various learning styles and challenges.
• Collaborate with mainstream teachers to integrate special needs students effectively into classroom settings where possible.
• Use adaptive teaching methods and assistive technology to support learning.
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate regularly with parents and specialists.
• Promote self-confidence, independence, and emotional well-being among students.
• Participate in training sessions and staff meetings related to special education and school development.

Requirements:

• Diploma or Degree in Special Needs Education, Psychology, Education, or a related field.
• Prior experience in teaching or working with children with learning differences or developmental disorders.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to remain patient, empathetic, and positive in challenging situations.
• Fluency in English, both written and spoken.

Desirable Attributes:

• Knowledge of IEP development and implementation.
• Familiarity with sensory integration, behavioral therapy strategies, or other support tools.
• Willingness to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team including parents, therapists, and school counselors.
