'RAVANA'S DREAM' poised to create theatrical history
Sri Lankan Theatre lovers are in for a theatrical experience like never before when “Ravana’s Dream” a modern opera presented by Lyceum International School takes center stage at the Sirasa studio complex, Ratmalana. Three years in the making, “Ravana’s Dream” is written and directed by world renowned composer, Kalasuri Harsha Makalande. The show will be held on the 25th of November at 6.30pm.

At the recently held the 13th School Traffic Wardens Awards Ceremony of Mirihana Police Division, Lyceum International School – Nugegoda emerged the Champions in the Ceremony. The ceremony was organized by the Mirihana Police Station and hosted by Lyceum International School, Nugegoda Over 400 School Traffic Wardens from Mirihana Police Division who have successfully serviced their voluntary service in Road Traffic duties were receive the felicitation awards.
Mr.Asoka Wijethilaka, Senior DIG graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, and I.M Karunarathna,DIG, Mr.Deshabandu Tennakoon, Senior Superintend of Police (Nugegoda Division), Mr. Mohan Lal Grero, Founder of Lyceum International Schools, Mr.Ravindra Karavita, ASP- Mt.Lavinia, High rank Police Officers and Principals of Nugegoda Division attended as the Guest of Honours. |
| Lyceum, Nugegoda emerge under 18 runners-up |
Lyceum International School, Nugegoda emerged runners-up in the ‘E’ division All Island Schools under 18 Doubles Badminton Team Championships worked off at the Municipal Council Indoor Stadium, Nuwara Eliya recently.
In the final, Sujatha Vidyalaya, Matara defeated Lyceum International School by two games to one. |

| Lyceum International School – Wattala became the Champions in the 8 th Inter-Schools' Under-15 Scrabble Championships 2011, held on 15th October 2011. 18 schools participated in this event. Lyceum Wattala team comprising of Migara Jayasinghe, Lambhotharan Yoganathan, Hayati Rassool, Nusrath Sariffo'deen and Rushda Othman won the Lyceum International School Challenge Shield. The tournament was organized by Lyceum International School – Nugegoda. Lyceum Wattala won all 4 games, with 31 points and a margin of 2635, including wins over former Champions, Museaus College and St. Thomas' College – Mt. Lavinia. |

Securing first runner up, and with countless awards, LIS yet again made a mark for themselves as a school with talent and a team with heart. Representing the nations of the USA, Iceland, Panama, Marshall Islands, Lesotho and Cambodia with a delegation ranging from the ages of 12 to 18, SLMUN couldn't have asked for any better. |

At the recently held Pentathlon Swimming Championships 2011 organized by the Sri Lanka Aquatic Sports Union at the Ananda Collage Swimming Pool, Lyceum International School, Nugegoda emerged runners-up in the girls championship.
Kavindi Sumathirathna was the under 12 overall champion. Lasath Gamage was the overall 2nd runners up in the Boys under 12 age group and Akshi Suppaiah was the overall 2nd runners up in the girls under 10 age group. The girls team of Lyceum International School Nugegoda emerged runners up at the championship. |

| LYCEUM CELEBRATES 10 YEARS OF GUIDING |
Lyceum International School Nugegoda celebrated ten years of Guiding on 1st June 2011 with a grand function. To mark the occasion several guides were enrolled on that day while some were awarded the 2nd class badge and the senior guides had the investiture ceremony.
In 2001 the successful journey of guiding at Lyceum started with 15 girls under the guidance of Mr. Mohan Lal Grero Founder of Lyceum International School.¬ A large number of teachers, parents and well wishers participated. The Chief Guest was Dr. Vajira Wanigasuriya the Zonal Commissioner. Mrs. Jayanthi Tilekeratne Former District Commissioner, Harshani Perera Secretary Western Province Guiding and Hyacinth Dissanayake officiated at the ceremony. Also the Principal Ms. Wenuri Hettiarachchi the Deputy Principals, Director of Sports and Sports Coordinators too participated. |

The Under 19 Girls team of the Lyceum Nugegoda were placed 2nd runners up.

It had always been his endeavour to share the immense academic and moral benefits which had accrued to him through education. It was a dream, a desire, a wish. Yet he plodded on, learning how to concentrate in the midst of strife., to think logically, to persevere without haste, to end your hatred without resentment, to fraternize without losing individuality, to serve without compensation, commendation, recognition.

| LYCEUM WATTALA EXCELS FOR THE 3RD CONSECUTIVE YEAR IN UNDER 13 CRICKET TOO |
The 10th Inter International Schools under 13 Cricket Tournament organized by the Lyceum International School,Nugegoda was held from the 7th to 20th of March. 15 International Schools took part in this tournament. The final match was held on Sunday the 20th of March, at the Lyceum Wattala Grounds. Lyceum Wattala and Gateway College played in the final match. Lyceum International school Wattala won the toss and let Gateway to bat first. Gateway could score 145 Runs all out in 40 overs.Helitha Bambaranda 60 & Ashfaaq Mistha 18 runs for Gateway. In reply from 29.4 overs Lyceum International school Wattala scored 146 runs for the loss of 3 wickets and won the match by 7 wickets. Sasanka Dilshan 61 (not out) of Wattala.

| The Inter International Schools Swimming Championships -2011 were held recently at the Ananda College Swimming Pool,Colombo. Lyceum International School, Nugegoda won the championship of the meet with a huge score of 1017 points |

Ramath Rajakaruna and Kavindi Sumathiratne set new records in the under 10 boys 50m butterfly stroke event and under 12 girls 50m back stroke event respectively. They also set new records in three relay races. The runner - up in the meet was the Asian International School with 876 points and Lyceum International School, Wattala was placed third with 853 points. This is the first time Lyceum International School, Nugegoda won the championship. They managed to grab the trophy from Asian International School, Colombo who were dominating this tournament for the last 12 years.

| LYCEUM WATTALA EXCELS FOR THE 03RD CONSECUTIVE YEAR |
Superseding 18 competitive International Schools, Lyceum International School Wattala excels in the 11th Inter- International Schools’ Athletic Meet -2011.
Reckoned for the positive outcome Lyceum International School - Wattala, became the champions for the 3rd consecutive year, during the successful Inter International schools’ Athletic Championships held on the 18th,19th and 20th of February, 2011 at the Sugathadasa International Stadium, Colombo which was organized by Lyceum International School.
With a clear-cut lead of 160 points, Lyceum Wattala was able to bag a total of 994 points exhibiting their high level athletic competencies and strenuous dedication towards their performances with an international flavour of high standards.
Also with great effort Gateway College Colombo could earn 834 points to achieve the second place while Lyceum Nugegoda with their performance gained 535 points and was placed third.
The Chief Guest on the closing ceremony of the ISAC 2011 was Hon. Minister of Economic Development Mr. Basil Rajapakshe and Mrs.Sriyani Kulawanse was the Guest of Honour.

The Lyceum International School, Nugegoda became the runners - up in under 10 category of Inter -International Schools Junior Netball Tournament, 2010 organized by the British International School, Colombo which was held at British School Ground, recently.
Anjalee Ranaweera was adjudged s the Best Shooter of the Tournament and Binadi Diddeniya the Best Player. |

Well known Scrabbler Nishan Perera, student of Lyceum International School, Nugegoda, will represent Sri Lankan youth at the 5th World Youth Scrabble Championships (WYSC) - 2010 to be held in Manila, Phillipines from 8th to the 10th December 2010.
He will be competing with other youth scrabblers from around the world in this gruellng 24 games – 3 day – tournament |

At the under 13 South Zonal Basketball Tournament organized by St. Peters College and held at St. Peters College Bambalapitiya, Lyceum International School Nugegoda was selected for the All Island tournament beating Royal College Colombo at the Semi Finals. The scores were 27 – 25.
The Runner up was St. Peters College and the 2nd runner up was Lyceum International School Nugegoda

First senior girl guide invstiture ceremony organized by the Lyceum International school, Nugegoda was held at the school premises recently.
Mrs. Marlyn Dissanayake, Director, Differently - able branch was the chief guest at this ceremony.

This was a dream, a desire, a wish. It was born in the heart of a very simple, humble individual, 17 years ago. Today it has materialized in the most wonderful manner possible. The Lyceum family is comprised of 1 parent school and 5 branch schools. In order to make his dream come true he had to traverse the thorniest paths imaginable. Yet he plodded on, learning how to concentrate in the midst of strife, to think logically, to persevere without hassle, to endure hatred without resentment, to fraternize without losing individuality, to serve without compensation, commendation, recognition. This was none other than our Managing Director – Hon. Mohanlal Grero.
