The students of the Learning Support Unit attached to Lyceum Nugegoda created an intriguing array of paintings depicting landscapes, seasons and nature at their scenic best and displayed them all at the Bellerophon Hall on the 17th of January 2018. The students also presented beautiful abstract paintings, Tie & Dye, Glass Paintings, Bottle Art, Photography images, Sculptures as well as a range of different items which can be reused were displayed under the theme of ‘Reduce Recycle and Reuse’ .
The exhibition touched upon art in its contemporary and traditional forms. This was the guiding principle to allow each student to achieve the freedom of creating an artistic voice of their own. We hope they sustain creativity as they grow.
All the items were priced at a reasonable price for sale and the proceeds from the entire collection will be donated to the Guest Artists who were invited and who contributed their own sketches at the exhibition. These three talented artists are brothers who come from an under privileged/ less fortunate background and who have been affected by a rare condition which has severely affected their mobility. It is with great pleasure that we announce “The Artist in Me”, an Art and Craft exhibition organized by the Learning Support Unit of Lyceum International School, Nugegoda. The aim of the exhibition is to highlight the hidden talents of children who may struggle to succeed in a standard classroom environment, through various forms of art, such as paintings, sketches, photography and crafts. We envision a world where differences are appreciated and strengths are highlighted, where children with different abilities grow in confidence and are empowered to reach their full potential. Thus, revolving around the theme of empowerment, for the first time we will be showcasing the artistic talents of these children.
The exhibition will be held at the school premises on Wednesday the 17th of January from 9:00 am – 1:00pm at the Bellerophon Hall. Do join us as we take a step to empower our future generations to dream big and to never give up. All parents and students welcome to visit the exhibition.
