A Day Devoted to Social Responsibility

Lyceum Kindness to Hinuggala Children" CSR Programme was held at Hinuggala Junior School, recently and it was a great success. The students and parents of Hinuggala Junior School, which is a school that falls under the low income region of the Kurunegala district are all in smiles. They were extremely happy to receive the basic facilities for their school with sanitary facilities, stationary, past papers, books and educational support equipment under the CSR project of Lyceum International School, Kurunegala. In addition, the students and management of Lyceum Kurunegala organized various activities throughout the day. Activities included were parental education programme for villagers, outbound training for students, singing, dancing and many more performances under the guidance of Mr.Nikitha Grero Director / Principal of Lyceum International School, Kurunegala. The programme was a great intuition of the Lyceum management towards the social cause. Thank you to all parents, children, academic and non-academic staff and our social media followers and for those who directly and indirectly volunteered supporting this worthy cause a great success.

BIRDIES IN HARMONY ANNUAL CONCERT OF LYCEUM KURUNEGALA

Talented little students Lyceum Kurunegala put on a fantastic performance at the annual concert held recently, which was enjoyed by all! A special thanks goes out to wonderful team of academic and non-academic staff of Lyceum International School - Kurunegala, for their immense contribution towards the success of this event.

LYCEUM WATTALA CHAMPIONS AT THE INTERNATIONAL SCHOOLS CHESS TOURNAMENT 2018

Lyceum International School Wattala became Champions at the 11th Inter International Schools Chess Tournament 2018, organized by Regent International School Gampaha on the 06th and 07th July 2018. Lyceum Nugegoda won the 02nd Runners up trophy with 29 points, Gateway Colombo was 01st Runners up with 34 points and Lyceum Wattala won the Overall Championship with 52 points.
Lyceum bagged the Under 8, 10 and 16 Teams Championships and Board Prizes, while the other age group teams performed well winning 01st and 2nd Runners up positions and board prizes in their respective age categories.

The primary students of Lyceum International School - Kurunegala have organized a CSR project for the Grade 5, 9, 10 and 11 students of the Hinuggala Junior School, which is a school that falls under the low income region of the Kurunegala district.
Through this project, we not only aim to provide these students with some basic necessities such as sanitary facilities, stationary, past papers, books and educational support equipment, but we also hope to be able to form a great relationship between our schools in order to continue to help support them whenever possible.

29th All Island Age Group Scrabble Championship 2018

29th All Island Age Group Scrabble tournament was held recently at Lyceum International School Wattala. The tournament was carried over 7 rounds and two divisions, namely Junior Category (under 18) and Sub-Junior Category (under 13). There were 142 scrabble players participating under the Junior Category and 192 scrabble players participating under the Sub-Junior Category out of which 62 of the students were Lyceum Wattala Scrabblers.

In the Sub-Junior Category (under 13), Ahamed Akeel emerged as the Runners Up with a margin of +1985 by winning all 7 rounds. It is also Ahamed Akeel’s third consecutive year of being in the top 3 in this tournament.

Oneli De Silva was placed 10th with a margin of +712 by winning 6 rounds. Mihin Manvidu, Vojini Fernando, Eshan Perera, Akshatha Balachandran, Luvin Samarabandu and Sashen Perera was placed 21st, 27th, 30th, 31st, 33rd and 40th respectively by winning 5 rounds.

In the Junior Category (under 18), Chaniru Udukumbura was placed 8th with a margin of +930 by winning 6 rounds.

Hathfi Cassim, Deshaba Etampawala, Adshayan Balachandran was placed 17th, 24th and 27th respectively by winning 5 rounds.

Desan Silva, Kapishan Rajaratnam, Himaya Nammunige, Sanuli Ranasinghe, Ahamed Nibras, Narendran Joseph, Tiani Perera and Thenumi Onara was placed 34th, 40th, 42nd, 43rd, 52nd, 56th, 57th and 63rd respectively by winning 4 rounds.

In addition to the above achievements, Mihin Manvidu received the award of the Highest Word Score, (by gaining a score of 692).
