The Nursery to Grade 5 students of Lyceum International School Nugegoda recently celebrated the Sinhala and Tamil New year during the last week of school.
All students were dressed in their colorful traditional attire and engaged in the traditions linked to the Avurudu celebrations from lighting of the hearth and boiling of milk, partaking of food, ganu-denu to games such as raban-playing and a tug-o-war.
The entire programme was focused on building cultural values in Lyceumers from their formative ages.
The annual primary concerts of Gr.02, 03 & 05 students of Lyceum International School, Nugegoda were held recently at the school’s main hall.
Under the titles of “Tales & Tunes”, “Magical Mirrors” & “Sparkle” the three concerts were an excellent platform for young students to showcase their talents in various genres such as music, dance & speech. The programme included a mix of English, Sinhala, & Tamil items. The hall and backdrop were beautifully decorated too.
It is no easy task to put together an event of this magnitude, and it was made possible thanks to all hardworking teachers & students at Lyceum, Nugegoda.
