Lyceum Learners achieve top results in Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards

The “Cambridge Outstanding Learner Awards” ceremony organised by the Cambridge International Examination Board was held in Kingsbury Hotel, Colombo recently. Cambridge International Examinations is the only global organization founded by the world’s top universities to conduct international education assessment and awards. It is affiliated to the University of Cambridge in England. About 1214 students from Lyceum International Schools  took the examinations and 70 of them received the, High Achiever  Awards.

 

Lyceum students are excelling in their studies both at national and international levels. For the past twenty two years, a large number of Lyceum students have been ranked Top in the World at Cambridge International Examinations at O- level and A – Level.

 

In the category Top in Sri Lanka , four Lyceumers acquired the first rank : At O- Level, Lakindu Bandara( Lyceum – Nugegoda ) ranked Top in Sri Lanka in Environmental Management and Literature in English  , Sumini Siyambalapitiya (Lyceum - Nugegoda) ranked Top in Sri Lanka in Sinhala, Dhanushka Nanayakkara (Lyceum-Gampaha) ranked Top in Sri Lanka in Business Studies, Ravindu P. Herat
h (Lyceum – Wattala) Top in Sri Lanka in Mathematics (Syllabus D – Calculator).

 

Nine Lyceumers obtained the first rank At A – Level , Vidushani Dhanawansa (Lyceum - Nugegoda) ranked Top in Sri Lanka in Chemistry & Physics , Bhuddhi Ranasinghe, Hasitha Dias (Lyceum - Nugegoda) Top in Sri Lanka in Computer Science, Thumitha Higgoda  (Lyceum – Nugegoda) Top in Sri Lanka in Mathematics,  Charith Clans Samarasooriya (Lyceum - Wattala ) Top in Sri Lanka in Biology, Panchani Jayamanne(Lyceum – Gampaha)  Top in Sri Lanka in Business Studies , Salman Mohammed Shukri (Lyceum - Panadura) Top in Sri Lanka in Economics, Mariya Kalyani Abeysekara (Lyceum – Wattala) Top in Sri Lanka in Accounting . 

 

In addition Lyceum International Schools acquired the number of High Achievements Awards, Best Across Awards and Four and more A* at Cambridge International A level and Nine and more A* grades at Cambridge International O Level.

ANNUAL CRICKET ENCOUNTER 2015

Lyceum International School, Panadura defeated Lyceum International School, Nugegoda by 5 wickets in their limited over annual cricket encounter for the ‘’ Nikitha Grero Challenge Trophy ‘’ at SSC Ground, Colombo, recently.

Their top scorer was Chehan Walpola , who scored 13 runs.

In reply, Lyceum International School reached home for the loss of five wickets in 11.5 overs. Chalaka Nallaperuma (24) was their top run getter.

Lyceum International School, Nugegoda : 91- all out in 28.4 overs.

Inter International Cricket Tournament U17

Lyceum International School Wattala Team won the Under 17 Championship for the second consecutive year playing against Wycherly International School Colombo in the Final held at Health Grounds on the 22nd October 2015. The tournament was organized by Wycherly International School Colombo and was held from the 02nd October to the 22nd October 2015.

Inter International Basket Ball Tournament U19 Girls

The International Schools Under 19 Girls Basketball Tournament organized by British School Colombo was held from the 23rd September to 03rd October 2015. Lyceum International School Wattala girls team led by Mandhari Fernando played against Lyceum Panadura, CIS Colombo and Gateway Colombo in their first round matches. Lyceum Wattala beat British School at the Semi Finals and the finals were played against Lyceum Nugegoda.

In the finals Lyceum Wattala scored 64 points and became Champions, while Lyceum Nugegoda scored 47 points and became runners up

All Island Basket Ball Tournament U15 Girls

The All Island Under 15 Girls Basketball Tournament organized by Sri Lanka School Basketball Association was held from the 30th October to 1st December 2015. Lyceum International Schools' Wattala girls team led by Hazeena Abdul played against Lyceum Nugegoda, Good Shepherd Convent, Presbyterian Girls School, Ave Maria Convent and St. Joseph's College in their first round matches. Lyceum Wattala beat Presbyterian Girls School at the Semi Finals and the finals were played against Lyceum Nugegoda. 

In the finals Lyceum Wattala scored 44 points and became Champions, while Lyceum Nugegoda scored 40 points and became runners up.
